Carl Zeiss Jena DDR MC Biometar 80mm f/2.8 – Pentacon 6 w/ Mamiya 645 Adapter (Aperture Faulty – Shoots Wide Open Only)
This is a Carl Zeiss Jena DDR Biometar 80mm f/2.8—medium format glass with real character. It’s in Pentacon 6 mount and includes an adapter for Mamiya 645 bodies, though I’ve personally only used it adapted to digital mirrorless.
Aperture mechanism is non-functional—it shoots wide open at f/2.8, period. That said, this makes it a bit of a creative sleeper: dreamy bokeh, razor-thin DOF, and the occasional swirl or bloom under the right light. Sharp in the center, with classic Zeiss microcontrast and a creamy rendering that works great for portraits or experimental work.
Glass is clean, coatings intact. Focus ring turns smoothly. If you’re into character lenses or looking for something with personality to adapt to digital (especially mirrorless), this one’s a fun option.
It’s a bit of a gimmick lens, yes—but a sharp and beautiful one with quirks you can lean into. Sold as-is, wide-open warrior only.
