This newly manufactured viewfinder mask is designed for photographers using Phase One P25/P25+ and P45/P45+ class digital backs, along with similarly sized Leaf backs, on compatible Hasselblad V-system cameras.
Unlike a conventional single-orientation digital-back mask, this design displays the horizontal and vertical capture areas simultaneously.
Why? Because these V-mount digital backs can be mounted to the camera in either orientation.
Rotate the back. Choose the corresponding frame. Keep shooting.

The Hasselblad V system was designed around the square 6×6 negative, where camera orientation simply didn’t matter. Rectangular digital sensors changed that equation.
Phase One and similar digital backs provide a rectangular capture area, and compatible V-mount configurations allow the back to be positioned vertically or horizontally. This mask accounts for both.
Instead of changing the mask when you change the back, both framing references remain visible on the focusing screen. Mount the back in the orientation you need, compose within the corresponding frame, and make the exposure.
It’s a simple solution that allows a classic Hasselblad to work more naturally with an entirely different generation of medium-format technology.
