Canon Pellix QL Body – Unique Fixed-Mirror SLR, Bargain Shape
This is a Canon Pellix QL 35mm SLR body—Canon’s bold experiment from the mid-1960s featuring a fixed, semi-transparent pellicle mirror. Comes with a body cap, and while it’s untested with film, the shutter speeds sound consistent and well within tolerance. Light seals will need replacement.
Cosmetically in bargain shape—wear and age throughout, but no cracks or major damage. Great for someone wanting to restore or use a piece of Canon history.
The Pellix was groundbreaking for its time: Canon’s first SLR to offer through-the-lens metering and the only Canon film SLR to use a stationary pellicle mirror. That design eliminated mirror blackout and vibration during exposure—features that wouldn’t become mainstream until decades later. It’s also one of the earliest models to use Canon’s Quick Load system, making film loading fast and intuitive.
Whether you’re collecting significant camera tech milestones or experimenting with unique mirror designs, the Pellix is a fascinating piece of the Canon puzzle.
