Darko’s 5289
Limited Run Tungsten Motion Picture Film
24 Exposure ECN-2 / C-41 Color Negative Film
ISO 100–400 Recommended
Tungsten Balanced
There was a moment before modern cinema stocks became clinically clean.
Before shadows lost their mystery.
Before tungsten film disappeared into history.
Darko’s 5289 comes from that era.
Hand-rolled from genuine Eastman Kodak 5289 — the original Vision-era 800T motion picture stock — this film carries the unmistakable texture of late-90s and early-2000s cinema. Deep shadows, glowing highlights, electric nighttime color, and grain that feels alive instead of sanitized.
This was one of Kodak’s early high-speed tungsten cinema emulsions — built for practical lights, neon spill, sodium vapor streets, dim interiors, and imperfect darkness.
A stock made for atmosphere first.
Perfection second.

Expect:

- Dense atmospheric shadows
- Vintage motion-picture grain
- Soft highlight bloom
- Electric nighttime rendering
- Low-light cinematic texture
The Look
Darko’s 5289 feels like forgotten late-night cinema.
Streetlights glow warm.
Blues drift cold.
Darkness becomes part of the image instead of something corrected away.
In daylight, the tungsten balance creates subtle cool shifts and muted warmth that feel distinctly motion-picture rather than photographic.
This is not modern precision film.
This is cinematic memory captured in silver halides.
Limited Run
Only a small quantity of original 5289 remains available for respooling.
Once exhausted, this particular stock disappears with it.
