Canon Pellix QL + Canon 50mm f/1.8 S.C. Lens – Fixed-Mirror SLR with Classic Glass
This is a Canon Pellix QL 35mm SLR body—Canon’s bold experiment from the mid-1960s featuring a fixed, semi-transparent pellicle mirror—paired with a classic Canon 50mm f/1.8 S.C. lens. The lens is in excellent optical condition: clear glass, no haze or fungus, and fully operational mechanics.
Shutter speeds sound consistent and well within tolerance, though it’s untested with film. The body includes a cap, but light seals will need replacement.
Cosmetically, the body is in bargain shape—plenty of wear and age, but no cracks or major damage. A fine candidate for restoration or practical use.
The Pellix was groundbreaking: Canon’s first TTL-metering SLR, and the only Canon film SLR to use a stationary pellicle mirror—eliminating viewfinder blackout and mirror slap. These features wouldn’t become common until decades later. It also introduced Canon’s Quick Load system for faster film loading.
With the sharp, compact 50mm f/1.8 S.C. mounted, this combo is not only historically significant but also a fully capable shooter. A perfect setup for collectors, tinkerers, or anyone looking to experience Canon’s most daring SLR design.
